Music

Private Music Teachers.

At Ramsgate Holy Trinity, we also offer private lessons through a number of peripatetic teachers - whose contact details and prices you can find below.  All teachers have delivered lessons that we have observed, and we are confident in their ability to support our children to achieve their musical goals! In order to book lessons, you must contact the peripatetic teacher directly!

It is important to note that for all children to be able to get the best out of an instrument, they will need to have the ability to practise - the school will support and advise where possible and have loaned instruments out when we are able to.

For anyone whom cost may be a barrier, please do look at https://www.kent-music.com/financial-assistance/ to see whether you would be applicable for support towards the cost of music lessons.

Liz Greig - Piano – greiglet@gmail.com

Mrs Greig currently teaches piano at Wellesley Haddon Dene. After hearing about the way in which she teaches, I asked her to come over to school and had the pleasure of observing her teach a couple of new pupils and then one of her long-term pupils. I loved her traditional approach to piano teaching and her calm, patient and warm manner. She is a very welcome addition to our team and I look forward to learning more from her as her tuition begins! (Cost - £15 per lesson)

Tasmin Foulis - Piano – TFpiano@outlook.com

Mrs Foulis is an incredible music teacher. I can say that because, once upon a time, she was my music teacher! Mrs Foulis was head of music at Dane Court for a while and I owe a lot to her in the sense that she was that one teacher who inspired and excited me! I am incredibly excited to have her on board. I know that she aligns with a traditional method of piano teaching and similarly to myself, has high expectations of what children can and should achieve with the right support! (Cost - £15 per lesson)

Natalie Hall - Brass – natstrumpet@gmail.com

Mrs Hall, and her family are not strangers to the school and have played with the school choir on numerous occasions. Her 3 children are all incredible instrumentalists and play a variety of brass instruments. The love that each and every one of them share for music is infectious, and I have seen Natalie teach in a number of different settings where I was always impressed with the quality and attention to detail that I saw! She has incredibly high expectations of her pupils, but always supports them to reach their potential with a smile on her face. (Cost - £10 per lesson. Instruments can be hired from Kent music for between £40.50 and £58 depending on the instrument).

Stelio Chatziiosifidis - Violin

Mr Stelios is our current violin teacher! Before teaching whole class music, he worked at many universities as a visiting tutor and ensemble director. Currently, he is an Associate Tutor at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). He also teaches and leads student groups at Simon Langton Boys School, at various schools through Kent Music and St Edmunds Canterbury. He is a focussed and patient teacher with high aspirations for all the children that he teaches! All children in Year 4 learn from his experience and this is a great way to continue with the instrument - or get a head start! Lessons with Mr. Stelios can be booked through Kent music at https://www.kent-music.com/music-lessons/ and instruments can be loaned through Kent Music too.)

Steve Ansell - Organ - steve554466@gmail.com

Mr. Ansell is the Director of Music at Ramsgate Holy Trinity and also, now, a governor of the school! He has always supported our organ tuition at the school and is set to become it's biggest champion! A technically challenging instrument, but incredibly rewarding - the 'King of Instruments' as it is often known. Steve has a broad approach to instrumental teaching and also works as the bass player for British soul band 'Hot Chocolate' (Yes... You are thinking of the right song!).

Organ Scholarship

The school, in partnership with Viscount Organs and the Royal College of Organists, currently provides Organ Scholarships for 3 pupils. They receive free weekly lessons and will be providing short recitals throughout the year once they have begun and consolidated their initial training. Information about applications for this scholarship opportunity for the next school year will follow in due course.

ABRSM Examination Centre

The school is registered as an ABRSM examination and following our rejuvenation of our private teaching, this is something that we will be making use of for children preparing to take exams with the peripatetic teachers!
